Cougars Rebound with Victory over Rams

After a brutal early season schedule, Quince Orchard's varsity team notched one for the win column with a 4-1 win over Rockville on Monday night. Junior forward Jessica Konecke provided all the goals, setting a school record for most goals in a game. Assists were added by freshman midfielder Krista Pitts, junior forward Allie Solomon, senior defender Kayla Hamedi, and senior Sami Slomin. The back line, anchored by junior Morgan Dorset and sophomore Kelly Whiteis, limited Rockville to two shots, one of which was the penalty kick which provided the Rams only goal.

Unfortunately, senior midfielder and captain Shannon Dwyer sustained an injury that will keep her out for a few weeks. While saving a ball from going out of bounds, she landed on the metal drainage grates that run around the stadium field. She split her knee wide open, and a trip to the ER and several stitches were required.

The Cougars open up divisional play Friday at 5:00 PM at home against Clarksburg.
