QO Varsity Girls Defeat Thomas Johnson 1-0 in Last Pre-Season Scrimmage

On Tuesday afternoon the Cougars played the last of their pre-season scrimmages. Coach Keiller tried many different combinations of players to see who fits best where and to rest some of the players who are suffering some minor early injuries. The game's lone goal came very early on from a corner kick delivered from Yvonne Latour to the head of Emily D'Italia and into the back of the net. This is a scoring combination we have seen before, and hope to see many times in the future. The Cougars had plenty of other scoring opportunities ranging from nice searching balls into the penalty area with players running on to them, to great long range shots from outside the penalty area as well. This demonstrates the Cougars ability to score on many different opportunities that will keep our opponents on their toes, as they struggle to defend against the Cougars awesome arsenal of scoring potential. The Thomas Johnson Patriots had several late scoring opportunities themselves, all of them deftly turned aside by Freshman GK Gabby Paolini.
